How Does Ketamine Help?

Ketamine Assisted Therapy has been scientifically proven to promote neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to adapt and rewire itself. This process can lead to positive changes in key areas that contribute to depression and anxiety, including:

  • Mood Regulation – Supporting emotional balance and resilience.

  • Stress Reduction – Lowering cortisol levels and improving response to daily stressors.

  • Shifting Negative Thought Patterns – Easing self-criticism and intrusive thoughts.

  • Enhancing Coping Strategies – Encouraging healthier ways of managing emotions.

Extensive research highlights ketamine's effectiveness in alleviating symptoms of treatment-resistant depression, as well as anxiety, panic disorders, and trauma-related conditions. Many individuals also report a profound sense of well-being and emotional clarity after ketamine sessions.

How does Ketamine Assisted Therapy feel?

The effect of ketamine assisted therapy can be described as a state of “light trance.” The choice of dose will depend on prior exposure to ketamine and other psychedelics, body weight and sensitivity. Individuals experienced with psychedelics may receive a higher initial dose.

Relaxation from ordinary concerns while maintaining conscious awareness under the influence of ketamine is characteristic. This tends to lead to a disruption of negative feelings and obsessional preoccupations.

You might experience a bodily sensation of relaxation and heaviness and feel a deep connection to the music being played. Your group leaders will remain in the room with you throughout the session and might ask guiding questions to help deepen your experience.

After coming out of the ketamine journey, some people experience a relaxation of their protectors, or defenses, that usually block them from participating in therapeutic work. Since you most likely will have a relationship with your facilitators and group members already, this is a great time to do some deeper healing.

The Financial Benefit of Group Therapy

Individual ketamine-assisted therapy sessions typically cost $825 per session, making a full treatment series a significant investment. This group model allows you to experience two guided ketamine sessions, along with preparation and integration, for a fraction of the cost—while benefiting from the shared energy of community healing. At the current Early-Bird pricing, the cost breaks down to $65/hour, with access to two licensed therapists, which is much less than the typical rate of therapy in NYC.

More questions about the Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy NYC Group Healing Circle:

  • This group is designed for individuals who are curious about ketamine-assisted therapy and want to experience it in a safe, guided group setting. If you're seeking healing, self-exploration, and community connection, this group may be for you.

  • Ketamine is a legal, FDA-approved medication for treating depression and other mental health conditions. Each participant will undergo a medical screening with a licensed prescriber to ensure safety.

  • We partner with a licensed prescriber based in New York who conducts virtual medical intakes for all participants. This ensures a safe and personalized approach to your ketamine experience.

Our team will coordinate the connection to make scheduling as smooth and stress-free as possible. If you have any questions about the medical intake process, we’re happy to guide you through it!

  • We use ketamine lozenges, which dissolve in your mouth. This method allows for a gentle onset and a longer-lasting experience, making it well-suited for group therapy settings.

  • Yes! As long as you have a prescription for ketamine in the lozenge form, you are welcome to bring your own perscribtion in and use that. You won’t need to meet with the prescriber.

  • No prior experience is necessary. The group includes guided preparation and integration sessions to ensure a supportive experience.

  • Most people feel well enough to return to work the next day. However, if possible, we recommend taking the day off or scheduling a lighter workload.

Following a ketamine journey, your brain enters a 24-72 hour window of increased neuroplasticity, making it an ideal time for intentional self-care and integration practices. Taking space to reflect, journal, or engage in calming activities can enhance the therapeutic benefits.

That said, taking the next day off is not required. We will discuss strategies during group sessions to help you navigate your post-journey experience while balancing daily responsibilities.

  • During the ketamine journey, most people experience the effects for 40-120 minutes, though this varies from person to person. As facilitators, our role is to support your experience and allow the medicine to work for as long as needed. You don’t have to worry about being keeping time or going for too long during the experience—we are here to guide and care for you.

After the session, the effects continue for 24-72 hours during a critical window of neuroplasticity—a time when your brain is more flexible and open to change. We often describe this as having the ability to "go left when you usually go right," allowing for new neural pathways to form.

One of the benefits of our group model is experiencing two ketamine journeys back to back, which can enhance ketamine’s antidepressant effects and deepen your transformation.

  • While individual ketamine therapy focuses solely on your personal journey, a group setting offers the added benefit of shared insights, connection, and collective support—all at a more accessible cost.

  • Individual ketamine-assisted therapy typically costs $825 per session, with additional fees for preparation and integration sessions at $275/session. A full course of treatment can total several thousand dollars. Our group program provides two guided ketamine sessions, plus structured preparation and integration, at a significantly lower cost—starting at $900 for the entire 6-week program. This makes group therapy a more accessible option while still offering a deeply transformative experience.

  • We request a 50% deposit to reserve your space in the group. If you need to cancel before the group starts, we ask for at least two week’s notice to receive a full refund. The remaining 50% balance is due on the first day of the group.

We do offer payment plans on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to explore this option, please reach out—we’d be happy to work with you.
